Questions and Answers
When will the new building be open to clients?
We plan for the building to be fully open for client appointments and community activities on the week of 21st October. We will be giving our invitations to all clients to join us at the new building when we have made arrangements to open the building to clients.
Will there be any changes to current services?
Before we move to the new building, we will close our current office for a short time so that we can pack. We will be renting a temporary space for in-person appointments, and you will be informed of this ahead of your appointments. Our
staff will be able to help if you have any concerns.
Where will the group activities be?
As usual, group activities will stop for the summer holidays. We will then start group activities again in September at the Pirate Castle. In October when the move is completed, group activities will be in the new building. Further details will be
available closer to the time.
Will anyone help me to find the new office?
We will help you find the new office by giving you a map with clear directions and pictures, and a video which shows you what the journey will look like from nearby stations. We encourage you to come to Community Group activities if you would like more support to find the new office. We may also organise group visits to the office location so we can travel together.
Will the Helen Bamber Foundation staff be the same?
Yes. The same staff will be working form the new building, and they will be happy to help with any queries or concerns you may have. We will also be sharing the office with Asylum Aid whose clients will be coming to the building to see their caseworkers. Asylum Aid's clients will not be attending Community Group, and HBF will not be sharing clients with them. They will be welcome to use the space when no activities are taking place.
Will I feel safe and comfortable in the new office?
We will be running a welcome lunch for clients when we have moved into the new building so that you can learn the layout and feel comfortable before your appointments begin. There will be comfortable places to sit, and we would like to decorate the spaces with the help of community groups to make them welcoming. The Client Voices Forum is providing us with ideas to make the new offices a space to feel safe and comfortable. If you would like to be part of a group of clients meeting over the summer to create something to decorate the new space, please speak to Yvie from the Community and Integration team.
How will I know when my appointments have moved to the new office?
We will inform you when the new office is open and give you an invitation to come and visit. We will let you know the locations of your appointments in advance.
